FIRST GOALS,
PART TWO
In 1995-96
season, Sandis Ozolinsh was in a contract holdout and played with
the IHL's San Francisco Spiders. In the Spider's inaugural game,
against the Los Angeles Ice Dogs, Ozolinsh scored the Spiders'
first goal in team history. When he signed with the Sharks, he
scored the team's first goal in the 1995-96 season as well.
RAINED
OUT, SNOWED OUT, AIRED OUT!
October
1991- If there was one thing Sharks radio play-by-play announcer
Dan Rusanowsky, will tell you about the team's inaugural season,
that it was a bumpy ride. And for the Sharks first ever extended
road trip, it was more than just turbulence. I will add to this
story as more of it comes available.
March 1995-
There have been many delays in sports, but in hockey, it's rare.
In the shortened 1995 season, the Sharks were to host the Detroit
Red Wings at San Jose Arena. A major flood at nearby Guadalupe
River cause streets around the Shark Tank to fill up like a tank!
The game was postponed until April.
January
1997- The Sharks were already in Vancouver when a paralyzing
snow storm hit British Columbia. The game was postponed to do
safety precautions.
